I just returned from one month language course in Germany and the majority of clothing in my luggage was made of 100% silk. The clothing made from this type of fabric is extremely lightweight and ideal for travel. Packing silk clothing in my luggage, helped me to easily stay within the strict weight restrictions imposed by airlines.
I found this fabulous silk from Renato Balestra at my favourite fabric shop “Collage” in Mondovì. No pattern is required to make this dress: it is essentially just 2 rectangles sewn together with elastic added. What makes this dress fit so perfectly, is the addition of a nice wide belt.
The heat wave reached Germany some weeks ago and I had to fight back my way. A silk summer dress is simply unbeatable in the midst of summertime heat. My sister brought me to Düsseldorf and we strolled across the Rheinuferpromenade, sat on the benches, enjoyed the picturesque view, watched street performers and simply relaxed. I really enjoyed the spectacular panorama and the lovely view of Düsseldorf’s skyline with its bridges, passing ships and architecture.
